Christ's Church of Oronogo
Sunday, May 19, 2013May 18, 2013 This week Mark Christian will be preaching from Luke 18:9-14. Jesus identifies that many of his contemporaries will not open themselves to a life of faith because they feel what they are offering God is sufficient. It isn’t perfect but it is better than most. That standard is a deterrent to what Jesus is offering us. He is calling us to something completely opposed to such an attitude. There is a gift available that is rather humiliating to receive. |
Sunday, May 12, 2013May 11, 2013 Mark Christian preached from Luke 18:1-8 where Jesus tells a parable about a woman who is relentless in her quest for justice. Within that story Jesus challenges us with what to do as we await His return and face the difficulties that are coming our way. Life is not easy, the road is not smooth and straight, it is scary and complicated so what are we to do to navigate this journey while we wait? |
Sunday, May 5, 2013May 6, 2013 Mark Christian preached from Luke 17:20-37. Jesus is asked a question concerning when the Kingdom He spoke so much about would appear. Jesus gives us insight into what we need to keep in mind to prepare ourselves for that very special and promised moment. As is His manner, He doesn’t answer the question directly but instead reveals His heart for us and what He desires we experience in the process of living by faith. |
Sunday, April 28, 2013April 28, 2013 Mark Christian preached from Luke 16:19-31. Jesus gives us insight into the fate awaiting each of us based on the choices we make. In an entitled world, we have to reverse our thinking from what do I deserve to making sure we don’t get what we deserve. The grace of God in our lives is calling us to notice around us His glory and what we can do with that. |
Sunday, April 21, 2013April 21, 2013 Chad Ragsdale, Professor of New Testament and Hermeneutics at Ozark Christian College, preached from Luke 14:25-33. Jesus is laying out the clear cost of discipleship and equating it to the measurements and assessments we make in every other areas of our lives. The call to follow Him leads to the death of ourselves and new life in His kingdom. |
