Christ's Church of Oronogo
Missions – Ozark Christian College – Joplin, MO
Description of Ministry:
Three Important Questions
Question 1: What needs(s) does Ozark Christian College meet? Bible knowledge and the practical skills to communicate the eternal truth of the Bible in a 21st century context – these are two great needs of the church. These are also the educational sweet spot offered to students at Ozark Christian College. A very practical example for Christ’s Church of Oronogo would be the long and productive relationship between the church and Ozark. Many staff members have been/are Ozark alums and many Ozark families are members of the church.
Question 2: How does Ozark Christian College meet that need? Ozark is classic Bible College committed to preparing men and women to serve in positions of Christian leadership around the world. As such, Ozark degrees are oriented toward vocational ministry positions and support roles within the local church and parachurch organizations. In addition to the Bible-related ministry programs, Ozark also has a robust partnership with Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. Students can receive their Bible/ministry education and associate degrees at Ozark, then receive a bachelor’s degree from the MSSU catalog. This cooperative effort is particularly useful for students desiring to serve in countries that are closed to traditional Christian missionary efforts.
The ultimate mission of OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE is to glorify God by evangelizing the lost and edifying Christians worldwide. The immediate mission of OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE is to train men and women for Christian service through an undergraduate Bible College education. Early in his administration, President Matt Proctor shared his vision for the college to be: a focused Bible college reaching the world for Christ, one kingdom leader at a time.
Question 3: How can I help? Friends of Ozark support the students, faculty and staff through their prayers and financial gifts. Each year, approximately 20% of the cost of a student’s education is underwritten by the gifts of Ozark friends. Were students to lose that “one dollar of every five dollars” they would see an immediate 25% increase in their cost of education.
Friends also encourage young men and women (freshmen) to consider the value of an education at Ozark. Whether called to vocational ministry, or not, immersing oneself in the study of God’s Word is an investment in a life of Kingdom service. Perhaps you know those considering their college options now – why not direct them to explore what Ozark has to offer.
